Universities in Turkey:

There are more than 200+ universities in the Republic of Turkey. Both private and government universities accept students from different countries. But here we will talk about only Public universities in Turkey. Public, state, and government universities are the same thing, only they have different names.

How to Get Admission in the Turkish Government Universities:

Getting admission in Turkish government universities is a little bit hard. You have to do some struggle in getting admission there. So let's come to the point that how to get admission in the government universities of Turkey. The basic requirement for getting admission in an undergraduate program is to complete your High school education (12 years of education). After that, another main requirement to be accepted is to do SAT or YOS exam. (You can click here to know more about the YOS exam.) If you don't have any SAT or YOS so getting admission in Turkish government universities can be a little bit tricky for you. Some universities also accept higher school results but you can only apply in some specific fields on the basis of your higher secondary school(12 grade) result. Without SAT or YOS, chances to be accepted in government universities become less.

  • In short, SAT or YOS is Important and more favorable but if you don't have both, you can still get admission on the basis of your previous academic result but the chances to be accepted are rare.

It is preferred to take SAT exam instead of the YOS because SAT has more weightage than the YOS exam in medicine programs at Turkish government universities. You can also apply on the basis of your YOS result. The chances to be accepted is still high. If you haven't taken any of mentioned exams and just have a higher secondary certificate then you can't apply in medicine. If a university accepting higher secondary results too then keep in mind that the chances to be accepted are still very low. So better to take one of the mentioned exams before applying.

  • For Engineering:
SAT, YOS, and HSSC Diploma are Accepted*

For Study Engineering in Turkish Public university, SAT and YOS is the basic requirement. It is preferred to do one of both exams to have a high chance to be accepted. Every University accepts YOS and SAT exam for their admission. If you don't have any of mentioned exam then some universities accept higher school diploma, 12th-grade result, for admission but there are only a few universities that accept higher school diploma for engineering programs but chances to be accepted on the basis of higher school diploma are low unless you have really excellent grades.

  • For Other Programs:
SAT, YOS, and HSSC Diploma are Accepted*

If you want to non-medical or non-engineering programs like Business related fields or some other fields then all three exams are easily accepted. If you can't take SAT or YOS and want to study in Turkey in such fields then you can apply on basis of your previous academic result(12th-grade). It is preferred to take YOS or SAT before apply but it's not necessary as in engineering or medical fields. You can get admission easily(but not too easily) if you have good grades in high school.
